The 10th Energy Convention 2025, powered by Stanbic Bank, the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU), and the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), has kicked off at Serena Hotel, Kampala.

The convention’s theme, “Integrating Oil, Gas, and Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Future,” highlights the importance of leveraging opportunities in the oil and gas sector to drive economic growth and will feature a series of panel discussions by industry experts.

Importance of Integrating Oil, Gas, and Renewable Energy

Integrating oil, gas, and renewable energy is crucial for achieving a sustainable future. With the increasing energy demand, countries need to explore various energy sources to meet their needs. Uganda’s oil and gas sector has the potential to drive economic growth, but it’s essential to ensure that the sector is developed sustainably.

Progress in Uganda’s Oil and Gas Projects

Uganda’s oil and gas sector has made significant progress in recent years. According to the Petroleum Authority of Uganda, the country has proven oil reserves of approximately 6.5 billion barrels. The Tilenga and Kingfisher oil projects, for instance, which are being developed by TotalEnergies and CNOOC, are expected to produce 200,000 barrels of oil per day.

Opportunities in the Oil and Gas Sector

The oil and gas sector presents numerous opportunities for economic growth and development. According to a report by the Uganda Investment Authority, the sector is expected to generate significant revenue for the government, which can be used to fund development projects.

The sector also creates employment opportunities, both directly and indirectly, contributing to poverty reduction and economic growth.

National Suppliers’ Database

The National Suppliers’ Database is an initiative aimed at promoting local content in the oil and gas sector. The database provides a platform for local suppliers to register and participate in the sector’s supply chain. This initiative is expected to increase the participation of local businesses in the sector, contributing to economic growth and development.

Sustainability and Integrated Development

Sustainability is a critical aspect of the oil and gas sector. The sector’s development must be integrated with other natural resources to ensure that the environment is protected. The convention’s theme highlights the importance of integrating oil, gas, and renewable energy to achieve a sustainable future.

The 10th Energy Convention 2025 is thus a significant event that highlights the importance of integrating oil, gas, and renewable energy for a sustainable future.

The convention provides a platform for stakeholders to discuss the progress of Uganda’s oil and gas projects, opportunities in the sector, and sustainability.

By leveraging opportunities in the oil and gas sector, Uganda can drive economic growth and development, while ensuring a sustainable future.
