
The Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) has a new champion at the helm, with renowned businessman Aga Sekalala Jr. taking over as Chairman of the Board. Sekalala’s appointment is set to transform the association and Uganda’s manufacturing landscape.
A seasoned entrepreneur and local investor, Sekalala replaces the outgoing Chairman Deo Kayemba, whose outstanding service and dedication to UMA have been vital in transforming the Association over the years.
Who is Aga Sekalala Jr.?
Sekalala, who took the mantle from his father, Aga Sekalala Snr of the Ugachick fame, is an investor with diverse interests in agriculture, media, real estate, entertainment, hospitality, and finance. He has held various leadership positions, including:
CEO of Ugachick Poultry Breeders, where he is driving self-sufficiency in poultry production and strengthening the agribusiness sector.
Vice Chairman of UMA, where he was championing policies that support manufacturing growth, investment incentives, and value addition, and;
Board Member of Uganda Investment Authority, where his role was fostering industrial development and policy advocacy
