Béata Habyarimana, Former Minister of Trade and Industry has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Bank of Kigali Group on August 1st.
BK Group Plc has announced the appointment of Beata Uwamaliza Habyarimana as the Chief Executive Officer of BK Group Plc effective August 1.
Habyarimana was until last week the Minister of Trade and Industry.
Her appointment was made following the resolution of BK Group Plc Board of Directors on Monday, and is pending regulatory approval, the Group said in a statement.
Marc Holtzman, Chairman, Board of Directors of BK Group Plc, said in the statement: “We are delighted to have appointed Mrs. Beata Uwamaliza Habyarimana as Chief Executive Officer of BK Group Plc; her leadership and vast experience in the financial sector will be instrumental in driving BK Group strategy and future growth ambitions.”
The new Group chief executive will work closely with the CEOs of the company’s four subsidiaries, he added.
The heads of BK Group subsidiaries include Diane Karusisi, CEO, Bank of Kigali Plc; Alex Bahizi, CEO, BK General Insurance; Carine Umutoni, CEO, BK Capital; and Claude Munyangabo, CEO, BK TecHouse.
Habyarimana is an economist and financial advisor by profession with over 19 years of experience in the financial industry in domestic, as well as Pan-African and international institutions.
She has also previously worked at senior level with local banks, including Bank of Africa, where she served as Deputy Managing Director, and Agaseke Bank where she served as CEO.
She holds a Master of Business Administration majoring in Finance from Maastricht School of Management in The Netherlands and a Bachelor degree in Public Economics from University of Rwanda.
