Jumia is the largest online retail store in Uganda where they provide over three million authentic products at the lowest prices and unbeatable customer service. Earlier this week, Jumia Uganda officially launched the 9th edition of its annual tech-sale.
Speaking to the media, Ron said, “We prioritize technology because it is a key driver of economic growth in any part of the world. If there is anything the pandemic has taught us, it is to appreciate technology. Be it in business, education, health or any other sector.”
Jumia has over the years built strategic partnerships with superior brands like Nokia, Tecno, Hisense, Xiaomi, Blue Flame, Saatchi, Redmi, Infinix to promote this activity and reach out to potential clients.
“This creates an enabling environment for us to deliver the best deals on tech and appliances on our platform…this year’s campaign is designed to give back to consumers who have endured a long pandemic, vendors, and students who need tech now more than ever to catch up with their studies,” Kawamara added.
Consumers can pay for their orders through mobile money, visa, MasterCard, and cash on delivery, executives said.
He featured in Forbes Magazine last year among other executives including the then CEO of Uganda Airlines Cornwell Muleya and Executive Director of Uganda Communications Commission, Irene Kaggwa Sewankambo.
Speaking to Forbes, Ron Kawamara said “Our goal and vision are to simplify the lives of Ugandans through technology, whoever you are. We see that technology has great equalising power here and we have seen that people have adapted quite well to it. We are removing barriers, investing in our customers and building trust in the online shopping experience.”
Prior to leading the Jumia, he launched Hellofood in Uganda in 2014 and later became Managing Director for Jumia Food in East Africa.
Ron has an MSc in Development Economics from the University of Oxford and BSc from the University of California, Berkeley.
