The Minister of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, Francis Mwebesa, has appointed Eng James Nkamwesiga Kasigwa as the fifth Executive Director of the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS).
In a statement, UNBS reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling its mandate of developing, promoting, and enforcing standards to protect public health, safety, and the environment against dangerous substandard products, as well as ensuring fair trade.
Kasigwa is an accomplished electrical engineer with a remarkable career, encompassing over two decades of leadership and strategic management in Science, Technology, Innovation, Standards, and the Infrastructure Industry.
He has worked with multinational corporations, as well as the private and public sectors.
He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Makerere University, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, a Master’s of Science degree in Telecommunication from London South Bank University, London, United Kingdom, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from ESAMI.
Prior to his appointment, Eng Kasigwa served as the Director of Science, Technology, Innovation Regulation & Biosafety at the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Uganda.
He also held the position of Commissioner of ICT Infrastructure Development at the Ministry of ICT & National Guidance.
