Manufacturing is the Key Driver for Uganda’s Economic Transformation -Min. Anite

Uganda’s State Minister of Finance for Investment and Privatisation, Hon. Evelyn Anite, has emphasised that manufacturing is the quickest vehicle for the country’s economic transformation.

During a tour of industries in Jinja City on Wednesday, Minister Anite highlighted the importance of manufacturing in driving wealth creation and national progress, saying that manufacturing isn’t rocket science but a powerful path to wealth creation and national progress.

“The Government of Uganda is offering attractive incentives like tax breaks, free land and dedicated market linkages, to anyone ready to be a first mover in producing innovative goods. I encourage all aspiring entrepreneurs to join Uganda’s burgeoning manufacturing sector,” Anite said.

 “Whether you’re launching a small workshop or scaling up a factory, you’ll have my full support every step of the way”, she added.

The Minister stressed that Uganda’s industrialisation journey continues to stand out in the region, and it’s all thanks to bold investors who believe in our potential.

“I’m especially proud of companies like Winworld Impex Limited which not only chose to invest their capital here but are also making a real impact,” Anite observed, adding, “With 700 jobs created, Winworld Impex Limited is contributing directly to livelihoods while playing a critical role in keeping our cities clean through waste recycling.”

She explained that this is the kind of investment that drives sustainable development and transforms communities through giving Ugandans opportunities to earn income and uplift their livelihoods.

She emphasised that with the right incentives and support, manufacturing can become a key driver of Uganda’s economic growth and development.

She observed that the Ugandan government is committed to supporting the manufacturing sector, offering attractive incentives such as:

Tax breaks: To reduce the financial burden on manufacturers and encourage investment.

Free land: To provide manufacturers with the necessary space to establish and expand their operations.

 Dedicated market linkages: To connect manufacturers with potential customers and facilitate the growth of their businesses.
