Telecom giant MTN Uganda has appointed Nigerian finance expert Victor Onyebuchi as the Head of Banking Operations for MoMo, its mobile money platform.
MTN MoMo (Mobile Money) is a widely used digital financial service in Uganda and Africa that allows users to transfer money, pay bills, and conduct various financial transactions using their mobile phones. The service has significantly boosted financial inclusion by providing easy access to banking services for millions, especially in underserved regions.

Coming in with immense experience in payment operations and the finance sector as a whole, Onyebuchi joins MTN Uganda with one mission: to strengthen the telecom’s commitment to efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Onyebuchi, who is an alumnus of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike and the University of Oxford, has over the years worked with several companies in different positions. Some of these include Moniepoint Inc., where he served as Head of Digital Banking Operations; Interswitch Group, as Head of Platforms and Ecosystems; and Fidelity Bank, among others.
He is a competent and experienced professional with years of expertise in Financial Services and Technology, focusing on Business Development, Business Process Optimisation, Settlement, Data Reconciliation, Product Management, Performance Management, Dispute Resolution Management, Operations Management, Vendor Management, Strategic Planning, Client Relationship Management, and Team Management.
Onyebuchi’s appointment is expected to enhance MTN MoMo’s operational efficiency and expand its influence in the mobile banking sector across Uganda and beyond.
