MTN Uganda has today extended its continued support to the Anglican Church by donating Shs10,000,000 to the Northern Cluster, which is leading this year’s Anglican Martyrs Day celebrations.
The symbolic handover ceremony was held on Wednesday morning in Arua and was presided over by the Bishop of Ma’di West Nile, Rt. Rev. Dr. Andaku Charles Collins, who is also a key figure in coordinating the Northern Cluster’s preparations.
The Northern Cluster comprises five dioceses: Kitgum Diocese, Lango Diocese, Diocese of West Lango, Nebbi Diocese, and Diocese of Ma’di West Nile.
Speaking during the handover, Phillip Odoi, MTN Uganda’s Commercial Head for the Northern region, reaffirmed MTN’s commitment to supporting causes that unite Ugandans in faith and purpose:
“It is an honour for MTN Uganda to stand with the Anglican Church and the faithful in Northern Uganda as we commemorate this deeply spiritual occasion. We believe that faith unites communities, and ‘Together, our Faith is Unstoppable,” Odoi said.
He added that in a bid to enable wider participation in this year’s Martyrs’ Day celebrations, MTN Uganda has also introduced a dedicated MoMo Pay fundraising code, 307776, through which the public can make contributions to support the preparations.
Receiving the contribution, Rt. Rev. Dr. Andaku expressed gratitude to MTN for its support:
“We are grateful to MTN Uganda for this generous support. It is a timely boost to our preparations, and a true testament that when we come together in faith, we can achieve great things.”
This donation, which is a gesture of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), follows MTN Uganda’s earlier contribution to Lugazi Diocese, which is leading this year’s Catholic Martyrs Day celebrations.
Across both denominations, MTN Uganda, under the leadership of Sylvia Mulinge as the Chief Executive, continues to promote shared values of unity, faith, and community support.
