The oil and gas sector is playing a vital role in creating lasting value for communities in Uganda, driving economic growth and transforming lives.

According to State Minister for Public Service, Hon. Grace Mary Mugasa, the sector’s impact is evident in the positive changes it has brought to the lives of Project Affected Persons (PAPs) in areas where oil and gas projects are being undertaken.

Transforming Lives

Minister Mugasa’s recent visit to the Tilenga Project Area in Buliisa, operated by TotalEnergies EP Uganda, showcased the tangible benefits of the oil and gas industry.

Mugasa’s tour included visiting sites like Rig SINOPEC 1503 at Kasemene 1, the Legacy Well at Kasemene, the Industrial Area at Kasinyi, and interactions with Project Affected Persons (PAPs).

National Content and Knowledge Transfer

The Minister hailed TotalEnergies EP Uganda for its commitment to national content, with the majority of workers being Ugandan, many drawn from local communities.

She said that the project’s emphasis on knowledge transfer is also noteworthy, with the Tilenga Academy providing training opportunities for young Ugandans, some of whom are even offered opportunities to further enhance their skills abroad.
