Uganda Airlines is expanding its wings. The national carrier recently announced the addition of three new routes to its network: Lusaka, Zambia; Abuja, Nigeria; and Harare, Zimbabwe. These exciting destinations will be served by Uganda Airlines’ flagship A330-800 aircraft, starting September 25th, 2024.
This expansion marks a significant step forward for Uganda Airlines’ strategic growth plan. The new routes not only bolster Uganda’s connection to other African nations but also lay the groundwork for future expansion into Europe and Asia.
“The new three routes are strategic to the airline’s expansion strategy,” said Jennifer Bamuturaki, Chief Executive Officer of Uganda Airlines. These additional flights will bring the airline’s total destinations to 16, further solidifying Uganda Airlines’ presence as a major player in African aviation.
Commercially, the expansion is projected to be a success. Adedayo Olawuyi, Uganda Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, expects the new routes to generate a 10% increase in revenue within the first 18 months.
Passengers traveling to Lusaka and Harare can expect flights to operate four times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Flights to Abuja will operate on a slightly different schedule, with departures every Sunday, Monday, and Thursday.
The addition of these new routes provides travelers with more options for connecting flights across Africa. Whether you’re on a business trip, a family vacation, or simply exploring the continent, Uganda Airlines offers a convenient and comfortable way to reach your destination.
