The ICT Government Round Table, hosted by the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, in partnership with MTN Uganda, was held today at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel.
This high-level engagement brought together stakeholders to discuss and shape the country’s digital future, with a focus on key issues like digital literacy and inclusion, cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, among others.
Speaking during the round table, Mr. Ambrose Ruyooka, the Head of Research and Development at the MoICT, said that Uganda’s Digital Roadmap translates policy into action, driving investment in ICT to create jobs, boost productivity, and foster economic growth.
Sylvia Mulinge, the Chief Executive Officer, MTN Uganda, noted that Public-private partnerships are key to co-creating solutions that uplift communities and drive national progress.
“We believe digital transformation must be inclusive and practical,” said Mulinge.

The round table is focusing on several key areas that are crucial for Uganda’s digital transformation, including but not limited to:
Developing a robust digital infrastructure is essential for supporting the country’s growing digital economy.
Implementing e-government services can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of government operations, as well as enhance citizen engagement.
Building digital skills and literacy among citizens is critical for ensuring that everyone can participate in and benefit from the digital economy.

Fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the digital sector can drive economic growth and create new opportunities for citizens.
Cybersecurity, Data Protection, and Privacy
Ensuring the security and integrity of digital systems and protecting citizens’ data is essential for building trust in the digital economy.
The round table aims to foster strategic public-private partnerships to support the implementation of the National Digital Transformation Roadmap.
By working together, the government, private sector, and other stakeholders can leverage each other’s strengths and expertise to drive digital transformation and achieve common goals.
