The Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Hon Francis Mwebesa has appointed Ms Geraldine Ssali Busulwa, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry on the Uganda Revenue Authority Board.
Ssali who also sits on the board of the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) brings a wealth of experience on the URA board. She has among other responsibilities been a director on the board of Housing Finance Bank for the last 8 years and is also a board member at Ngetta Tropical Holdings Ltd.
Ssali chairs the Gayaza Old Girls Association (GOGA), the alumni body of Gayaza High School which she attended for both her O and A levels.
Ssali has a wealth of financial management experience both global and local, cutting across different sectors ranging from Government, Banking, pensions, transport, retail and service industry.
She is a former Deputy Managing Director at the National Social Security Fund, a position she held for seven years and Acted as Managing Director of the Fund for a year in 2014.
Ssali has held a number of high profile Finance positions in the United Kingdom: Heading the Corporate Services Unit at Her Majesty’s Treasury (Ministry of Finance, UK); Monopolies and Mergers Commission (Now Competition Commission), Transport for London, among others.
She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, (CIMA). She is also a fellow of Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMA). The PS holds a Masters of Business Administration in Finance and Finance Professionals from the University of Manchester -Manchester Business School, with 16 years’ post masters work experience in internationally reputable financial organisations.
She is an alumnus of Makerere University, Kampala, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Maths, Economics and Statistics.
