The Fintech Association of Kenya (FINTAK) has appointed Dr. Juliet Ongwae as a Board Director, effective May 20, 2024.
Dr. Juliet currently serves as the Senior SupTech Specialist at the Cambridge SupTech Lab, University of Cambridge.
She has over 20 years of experience in the digital financial services (DFS) sector. Her extensive background includes significant roles at MicroSave Consulting and Musoni Microfinance, as well as over a decade at the Central Bank of Kenya.
“Her extensive experience and innovative approach to financial technology make her a valuable addition to our team. We look forward to her contributions and leadership in fostering a robust fintech environment in Kenya,” said Duncun Motanya, the Chairperson of FINTAK.
Dr. Juliet holds a PhD from the University of Manchester and has been instrumental in leveraging technology to enhance regulatory compliance and financial supervision through her expertise in policy design, DFS strategy development, product innovation, and data analytics.
In her new role at FINTAK, Dr. Juliet will lead the SupTech/RegTech Committee, guiding the fintech community towards more innovative and efficient regulatory practices.
“Her appointment supports FINTAK’s commitment to advancing Kenya’s fintech sector by harnessing the potential of technology to create a more inclusive financial ecosystem,” the association said in a statement.
