Equity Bank Uganda has announced the appointment of Mr. Gift Shoko as its new Managing Director, subject to regulatory approval. Mr. Shoko succeeds Mr. Anthony Kituuka who has stepped down from the role.
Mr. Shoko brings over 26 years of experience in the banking industry to the position. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Executive Director of Equity Bank Uganda. He previously held the position of NCBA Group Director for Regional Business, overseeing banking subsidiaries across East Africa. Mr. Shoko also boasts a successful tenure as the Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Bank of Africa (Tanzania) Limited.

Mr. Shoko holds a Bachelor of Business Studies and Computer Science degree from the University of Zimbabwe and a Master’s in Business Administration (Banking and Finance) from CIMA in Nicosia, Cyprus. He also possesses numerous certifications in banking, finance, and leadership, including certifications in Executive Coaching and Genos Emotional Intelligence.
The Board expressed confidence in Mr. Shoko’s ability to lead Equity Bank Uganda to further success, enhance customer experience, and expand the bank’s reach within the Ugandan market.
