Brand Africa Awards: MTN Group Claims Brand Africa Hall of Fame With 4 Accolades

As Uganda prepares to host its own edition of the Brand Africa 100 Awards this July, we proudly spotlight continental milestones from this year’s inaugural event held in Addis Ababa. Among the big winners was MTN Group, which continues to blaze the trail as one of Africa’s most admired brands, affirming the values we seek to celebrate here at home.

Telecom giant MTN Group, led by Mcebisi Jonas as Group Chairman, claimed this year’s Brand Africa Hall of Fame after scooping 4 prestigious accolades at the Brand Africa 100 awards inaugural event held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, a few days ago.  

The Brand Africa Hall of Fame, which is a high-status recognition in the Brand Africa awards, recognises brands that have consistently ranked among the most admired African brands over a sustained period (5-15+ years) in the Brand Africa 100|Africa’s Best Brands and other recognised rankings.

These are brands that have positively impacted lives across the continent, Enhanced Africa’s image globally, and are a Benchmark for the best-in-class branding rooted in Africa.

The announcement was made alongside the release of the 2025 edition of the Brand Africa 100 rankings, an annual, independently conducted survey spanning more than 30 African countries and representing more than 85% of the continent’s population and GDP.

“It is an honour to be inducted into the Brand Africa Hall of Fame and to be named the most admired African brand contributing to a better Africa, the most admired African brand by spontaneous recall, as well as the brand most admired for doing good for society and the environment,” said Ralph Mupita, MTN Group President and CEO.

“That this recognition comes during Africa Month gives it added significance. It reflects the progress we continue to make as a continent and the role trusted brands must play in advancing inclusive, digitally enabled growth. We are grateful for the confidence placed in MTN by the people we serve and remain committed to delivering meaningful impact,” he added.

According to Thebe Ikalafeng, the Founder, Brand Africa, MTN Group, which operates in over 19 countries, is more than just a telco; it’s a platform for economic empowerment, financial inclusion and digital connectivity.

“The telecom giant has consistently ranked as one of the top African brands by consumers across the continent for over 15 years, claiming a bigger share of the telecommunications industry across the continent,” Thebe said.
