Empowering Next Generation: MTN ACE Initiative Graduates 103 Youth to Transform Uganda’s Workforce

MTN Uganda, through the MTN Foundation, is celebrating a major milestone in its mission to empower the nation’s youth with the graduation of 103 youth from the second cohort of its MTN ACE Initiative.

The graduation, held on Friday, at the MTN head offices in Kampala, marks a significant step forward in preparing Uganda’s next generation for the digital economy and equipping them with essential business and entrepreneurial skills.

Enid Edroma, the General Manager for Corporate Services at MTN Uganda, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to tackling youth unemployment and supporting Uganda’s digital transformation.

“The MTN ACE initiative is part of our contribution to shaping Uganda’s digital future while creating opportunities for young people to thrive in a fast-changing economy,” Edroma told the graduates.

Speaking at the same function, Ronald Bosa, the Chairperson of the Human Resource Managers Association of Uganda, called on the graduates to stay focused on their goals and uphold excellence in their professions.

“Customer care remains a key value in the professional world. Always put the customer first,” Bosa told the graduates, adding that, “This initiative is preparing Uganda’s youth to compete and excel in the future.”

Building a Skilled and Innovative Workforce

Since its launch in 2022, the MTN ACE program has trained a total of 188 youth.

The impact is already clear, with 21 graduates securing positions at MTN Uganda and many others launching their own businesses.

This initiative is a critical response to the challenge of youth unemployment in a country where more than 75% of the population is under 30.

By providing targeted training in digital, business, and entrepreneurial skills, MTN ACE is directly contributing to Uganda’s economic growth and advancing its digital transformation roadmap.

The Power of Strategic Partnerships

The success of the program is a testament to the power of collaboration.

MTN Uganda Foundation is deeply grateful to its key partners, including the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, MUBS Entrepreneurship Centre, Centenary Technology Services, and others who make the MTN ACE a reality.

Their collective efforts have been instrumental in delivering a comprehensive curriculum that prepares graduates to become innovators and leaders.

The graduating class of 2025 is now equipped to inspire, innovate, and lead, ready to make a significant impact on Uganda’s future.

The MTN ACE Initiative is a program by MTN Uganda, through its MTN Uganda Foundation, designed to boost the employability of young people and empower them with crucial digital, business, and entrepreneurial skills.

The program aims to address the challenge of youth unemployment in Uganda by partnering with organisations like the Ministry of ICT, the National ICT Innovation Hub, and the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) to equip participants with hands-on training and mentorship.

The program’s core goal is to build Uganda’s human capital, drive innovation, and advance the country’s digital transformation agenda.
