Stanbic Bank Gives Standing Ovation to Outgoing Director Grace Kavuma

The management and staff of Stanbic Bank Uganda this week bid a proud and heartfelt farewell to Ms. Eva Grace Kavuma, who officially retired from the Board of Directors on May 28, 2025, after nine remarkable years of steadfast leadership and service.

During her tenure, Kavuma distinguished herself with visionary thinking, strategic insight, and a deep commitment to people.

Her nine-year tenure has left an indelible mark on Stanbic Bank Uganda. Kavuma’s ability to balance strategic oversight with a strong human touch helped shape a stronger, more values-driven organisation.

Reflecting on her tenure, Kavuma expressed gratitude to the shareholders, leadership, fellow Board members, employees, customers, and regulators, stating.

“It has been the honour of a lifetime to serve on the Board of Stanbic Bank Uganda and to play a part in this incredible journey over the past nine years,” she said.

Kavuma’s Exemplary Legacy

As a Member of the Board of Directors, Kavuma played a very pivotal role in steering the business at Stanbic Bank and below are the notable highlights during her tenure;

Leadership Roles

Kavuma steered critical governance committees, including Audit, Risk, and Credit, and served as Chair of the Board People and Culture Committee for six years, reimagining what it means to put people at the heart of banking.

Strategic Corporate Reorganisation

During her tenure, Kavuma played a crucial role in guiding the Bank through a strategic corporate reorganisation in 2019, giving rise to Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited, a milestone that redefined the bank’s trajectory as a diversified financial services group.

COVID-19 Pandemic

Her visionary stewardship during the pandemic was inspiring, with an unwavering focus on staff well-being that helped sustain a resilient, compassionate, and high-performance culture.

Support for Chief Executives

During her time at the bank, Kavuma supported three dynamic Chief Executives: Patrick Mweheire, Anne Juuko, and, currently, Mumba Kenneth Kalifungwa, each benefiting from her wisdom, counsel, and advocacy for inclusive leadership.
