PRAU Health Run

for the first time, the Top 250 PR firms in the world cracked the$10 m barrier in terms of fee income, reporting$10.4 bn compared to $9.7 bn in 2013.

The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU), the umbrella body of communicators in Uganda held its inaugural PRAU Health run on 17th March 2016.

The Health fun runs required the communicators to register to participate. The call to action was; “Take action and live; Healthier, Happier, Balanced lives that will increase Productivity, Mental stability and Reduce lifestyle diseases.”

PRAU members heeded the call and over 30 Public Relations officers and communicators from both the private and public institutions joined the run.

The jovial PROs proved that they don’t spend all their time holed up in meetings or behind desks but workout regularly when they sprinted, jogged and walked up and down the hills and valleys of Kololo suburbs for 8 km. The participants networked during the health run that was flagged off by Mr. Okwir Nicholas the Chairman Federation of Uganda Employees, Board member of URA, and former MD Housing Finance Bank.

The PRAU health run idea was birthed by PRAU members, adopted by the PRAU Governing Council and executed by the Secretary-General of PRAU – Cynthia Mpanga, Victoria Kiwooma – Housing Finance, Ivan Baliboola – ACME, Flavia Atugonza – PRAU, Sandor Walusimbi – Airtel, Emily Kiracho – Fideli Uganda, Peter Odeke – Parliament and Pheona Wall – NWSC.

Notable participants came from a cross-section of companies; WWF, Standard Chartered Bank, Housing Finance Bank, Silk Events, NSWC, Airtel, Parliament of Uganda, Capital Markets Authority, KCB, Fideli Uganda, Royal way media, Housing finance, Brands made to last Africa, Save the children, IGG, Publics Africa Communications, among others. A hearty thank you to Coca Cola for supplying the PRAU Health run with Dasani water.

Until the next run!
