During the inaugural ceremony of this year’s Brand Africa 100 awards in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Standard Bank Group emerged as the Most Admired Financial Services Brand in Africa!
The announcement was made by Thebe Ikalafeng, the Founder of Brand Africa, during the unveiling of the 2025 edition of the Brand Africa 100 awards.
The inaugural ceremony was a buildup to a series of Brand Africa awards events set to be held in various African countries in the coming months, with the Ugandan version slated for July 02, 2025.
This is a landmark achievement for the South Africa-owned bank Group, indicating that millions of Africans not only trust in Standard Bank Group but also want to identify with the brand.
Commenting on this significant continental recognition, Standard Bank Group stated thus;
“We’re honoured to be recognised as Africa’s Most Admired Financial Services Brand by Brand Africa. This accolade, part of Brand Africa’s 15th annual Africa’s Best Brands report, is based on an independent study spanning 31 countries across the continent. It reflects the trust placed in us by the people we serve, and the consistent work we do to help drive Africa’s growth.”

“We are delighted to receive an accolade that is distinguished by being authentically African, data-driven and consumer-led,” Sim Tshabalala, the Chief Executive, Standard Bank Group, said about the award.
To emerge winner in this category, Standard Bank Group beat off stiff competition from Ecobank and United Bank of Africa (UBA).
It is important to note that the Brand Africa awards, now celebrating 15 years in existence, are a result of an independent year-long survey conducted by Kantar and GeoPoll about the best-performing brands in different countries across Africa.
Having been unveiled in Ethiopia, momentum is already building for the Ugandan edition of the Brand Africa awards, which no one should miss!
