Vice President Jessica Alupo has applauded the National Medical Stores (NMS) for the measures being put in place to address theft of drugs, an issue she said disheartens the population. She said this during a guided tour at the NMS in Entebbe, Wakiso recently.
“Our Master, the Uganda population out there, needs medicines in Government Health Unites; they get disheartened when they hear stories of drugs stolen. I am glad, therefore, to learn that you are soon getting remedy to this problem through an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning System” she said.
She added: I am happy to know that you are working on solving the problem of storage through a modern Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Warehouse at Kajjansi.”
Alupo said COVID-19 pandemic has put Uganda and the entire World under extreme stress and test for survival. She said the country can no longer depend on the complacency of waiting for eternal solutions.
“We have to support local innovations and inventions of medicines like Covidex. I am happy to know that National Medical Stores is in support of the Buy-Uganda-Build Uganda (BUBU) Policy. I encourage you to show it in practice,” she noted.
She added: “Let me warn the leaders and management of organisations like the National Medical Store (NMS):- problems and challenges will always be there. What puts a real leader above others is the capacity to give practical solutions and not lamentations about problems and challenges. With cohesion in action in doing Government business, Ugandans are to enjoy better service delivery and live happily.”
