Direct Pay Uganda (DPO Pay Uganda), a prominent force in the online payments sector, has officially completed its rebrand to Network International. This significant change, which received regulatory approval from the Bank of Uganda, aligns the Ugandan operation with its parent company, the leading fintech firm in the Middle East and Africa.
The rebranding is more than just a name change; it’s a strategic move to integrate Network International’s global expertise and robust infrastructure with DPO’s established regional presence. This synergy is designed to deliver secure, seamless, and highly innovative payment solutions that will further strengthen service delivery for partners and customers across Uganda.
A Commitment to World-Class Payment Solutions
“This rebranding represents our commitment to delivering world-class payment solutions tailored to the Ugandan market and to foster a thriving digital economy by providing businesses with the tools and solutions they need to succeed,” said Mpho Sadiki, Group Managing Director for Merchant Services in Africa (excluding Egypt) at Network International.
The company’s vision is to empower merchants, from businesses in Kampala to those in rural towns, with fast, secure, and seamless payment experiences. Network International offers a comprehensive suite of solutions that simplifies the entire payment ecosystem for growth.
Empowering Uganda’s Merchants
Network International’s offerings are designed to meet the diverse needs of merchants by enabling the seamless acceptance and processing of mobile money, card, and online transactions. The company’s end-to-end solutions cover everything from payment processing and reports to fraud protection and reconciliation.
For over 30 years, Network International has built trusted relationships across the continent. By combining its global expertise with a deep understanding of local markets, the company simplifies transactions for customers while providing businesses with the necessary tools to grow.
The rebrand in Uganda follows similar moves in Kenya, Zambia, and Namibia, solidifying Network International’s position as a regional powerhouse. Today, the company is the largest payment processor and acquirer in the region, serving over 100,000 merchants across diverse sectors, including high-end retail, hospitality, education, fashion, hypermarkets, and aviation.
Capitalising on Uganda’s Mobile Money Boom
The timing of this alignment is particularly pertinent given Uganda’s rapidly expanding digital economy. According to the GSMA State of Industry Report on Mobile Money 2025, Uganda is one of the countries where mobile money contributes more than 5% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
In 2024 alone, the country experienced strong growth in mobile money adoption, with millions of active accounts driving billions of dollars in transactions. Network International’s integrated focus on mobile money and other digital payments positions it to be a key enabler for this massive growth, helping Ugandan businesses successfully navigate and benefit from the country’s accelerating digital transformation.
