Stella Alibateese is the new the National Director of the Personal Data Protection Office at The National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA–U), the agency has announced.
Personal Data Protection Office is an independent office under NITA Uganda for protection of personal data in Uganda. The office was established by the Data Protection & Privacy Act 2019.
“We wish her the very best in this new tour of duty,” read part of the statement from NITA U.
Alibateese brings to the job a wealth of knowledge and experience in leagal and regulatory environment in private and public sector data protection and privacy. She has been a practicing advocate for 25 years with experience in a number of areas, bulk of which is on policy and regulatory matters in public sector.
Prior to this appointment, she worked as Director Regulation and Leagal Services at NITA-U. She previously worked with National Social Security Fund (NSSF) for 10 years as Deputy Corporation Secretary/ Ag. Corporation Secretary.
