The annual NSSF Kampala Hills Run, a major corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at transforming learning conditions in public primary schools, has been rescheduled.
The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Managing Director, Mr. Patrick Ayota, announced this week that the run, originally slated for October 12, 2025, will now take place on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
However, he noted that despite the change due to “circumstances beyond their control,” NSSF has assured all stakeholders that the core objectives and activities of the event remain unchanged, emphasising that the new date presents an opportunity for even greater participation.

The Logistics and the Cause
The NSSF Kampala Hills Run is a highly anticipated physical and charitable event that mobilises the corporate sector and the public for a crucial cause: improving Uganda’s public primary education.
Event Details Remain Consistent
New Date: Sunday, November 2, 2025.
Start Time: 6:00 AM.
Venue: Kololo Independence Grounds.
Routes: Participants will tackle routes across Kampala’s challenging hills, covering distances of 21km and 10km.
Investing in Education
The primary goal of the run is to raise funds to improve learning conditions in public primary schools by focusing on three key areas:
Refurbishment of Classrooms and Sanitation Facilities.
Providing safe and conducive learning environments.
Promotion of Digital Literacy by equipping pupils with essential 21st-century skills.
Ms. Barbra Teddy Arimi, NSSF Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, encouraged the public and partners to embrace the new date.
“We encourage both our long-standing partners and the public to join us in improving the education sector by purchasing a kit at Shs35,000 and taking part in this worthwhile cause,” she stated.
Ms. Arimi extended her appreciation to the partners and members of the public who have already pledged their support to the cause.
Changing Lives Across Uganda
Since its inception, the NSSF Kampala Hills Run initiative has delivered tangible, life-changing results across the country, some of which include:
Renovated Schools: The initiative has supported the renovation of 25 primary schools across the country.
Beneficiaries: This has directly benefitted more than 40,000 pupils daily.
Educational Outcomes: These infrastructure and learning interventions have contributed to a 12% rise in enrolment and a 10% decline in dropout rates among the beneficiary schools, underscoring the direct link between improved facilities and better educational outcomes.
Powerful Corporate Coalition
The run continues to be a unifying force in the Ugandan corporate sector, attracting a wide array of high-profile partners committed to social investment. The event is organised in partnership with MTN, Housing Finance Bank, and Next Media, with support from many other key corporate partners, including Vision Group, Nation Media, Standard Chartered Bank, Bank of Uganda, Centenary Bank, and the Insurance Regulatory Authority, among others.
To ensure wide accessibility, registration and kit purchases have been simplified.
