The upcoming Stanbic Ongea Digital Creators Summit 2025, slated for December 11th, at Speke Resort Munyonyo, is setting its sights on transforming Uganda’s vibrant, youth-driven content creation scene from a platform for expression and likes into a genuine economic powerhouse that generates real income.
Leaders from Stanbic Bank Uganda and Ongea Africa emphasised during the Summit launch a few days ago that the time for creators to monetise their talent and build sustainable brands is now.
Also powered by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) and the Uganda Digital Society (UDS), the Summit, for which Stanbic Bank serves as the Naming Sponsor, is designed to provide creators with the professional tools, financial literacy, and capacity needed to successfully navigate the global digital economy.
Brand Value and the Path to Income
Mrs. Lois Aber Kwikiriza, Marketing and Brand Manager for CIB and BCB at Stanbic Bank Uganda, highlighted the immense potential of Ugandan creators, stressing the need for strategic branding.
“You need to grow your brand? Look at Mr. Beast; his journey shows how he’s raised his brand’s value. Outside Nigeria, some of the most interesting creators are Ugandans. Our content is engaging, thanks to many languages. Now, we need to monetise,” Mrs. Kwikiriza said.
She underscored that content creation is not merely a form of self-expression for the youth but “…a critical pathway to income and opportunity, placing women, youth and farmers at the heart of the country’s social and economic transformation.”
She reaffirmed Stanbic’s role as the lead sponsor, stating, “Stanbic Bank is proud to lead as the naming sponsor, an expression of our purpose; Uganda is our home, and we are committed to driving her growth.”
Unlocking Practical Monetisation and Support
The core mission of the Summit is to bridge the gap between creative talent and commercial success.
Joseph Kanyamunyu, Summit Director at Ongea Africa, emphasised that the 2025 agenda is heavily focused on practical, actionable guidance:
“Monetisation is essential for creators. At the Stanbic Ongea Digital Summit 2025, we are unpacking practical guidance, including how to approach brands for real support. Subject-matter experts will break it all down at the Summit,” Kanyamunyu said.

To ensure that the learning translates into professional capabilities, Mr. Kanyamunyu announced a major investment in skilling:
Scholarship Initiative: outstanding delegates for the 2025 Summit will be awarded 50% scholarships on courses offered by Red and Yellow, Africa’s top creative school.
This initiative, he noted, is designed to provide creators with world-class education, equipping them with the business acumen necessary to professionalise their work and build high-value, sustainable digital enterprises.
According to Kanyamunyu, the Summit, therefore, serves as a vital confluence point, bringing together the financial sector, the creative education sector, policy makers and other stakeholders to deliberately nurture Uganda’s digital talent into a competitive, income-generating force.
